A friend grew up in England and moved to Houston. Her mother came for her first visit to the States. After a few weeks, I asked the mother if anything about Houston surprised her. And she said (say with an British accent for emphasis), "Well, everyone told me it was quite flat, but I had no idea it would be quite THIS FLAT."

I learned to drive in Houston. During college I went to visit a friend in Austin. As I drove through town I was suddenly scared -- The road in front of me had disappeared! I gave out a quick scream and startled my friends in the car! It took me a moment to realize what had happened: I had just driven over my first hill. Ever.

That's really sad. Tennessee is beautiful... you should practice walking more. :)
