THE HEAT-2010-08-21-149

"A true Houstonian doesn't run indoors when the heat comes out to play. A true Houstonian doesn't just tough it out- a true Houston actually enjoys it, welcomes it, and hugs the warmth whilst sitting on the beautiful tree-filled backporch of a cafe. Small refuges are taken from the sun under canopy trees and umbrellas while grasping a cold beverage. He and his beverage adapt to the heat of the outdoors; he glistens with sweat as his cold beer develops the frequent appearance of condensation Houston diners are familiar with. But the heat isn't something the true Houstonian is concerned with. On this sunny day he is watching shadows dance across the porch at his hideaway. Each moment of each hot sunny day paints a unique picture of shadows from trees, buildings, birds...a shadow story that will never be replicated from one moment to the next."

I'm in love with this heat. When I walk out of a building and the sun hits me, it's a comfort to feel that pleasent tingle on my face. My toes are never cold and it always feels like I'm getting a big warm hug.

Great article and picture!
